The horrors of socialized medicine Part II

Steven has left a new comment on your post "The horrors of socialized medicine":

I love how you've painted a few albeit tragic events as being commonplace and described the British healthcare system as being 'horrific' despite, I imagine, never having had the privilege of experiencing their good care and attention. My mother has had nearly 20 operations which would NEVER be affordable under private healthcare, all without any adverse effects. My father receives any medication he needs free of charge since having his thyroids removed. A friends mother (at 67) was afflcited with Necrotizing fasciitis and spent nine months in hospital recovering from having 30% of her mass surgically removed, what would the bill be for that in America? How much would she be charged for the colostomy bags she needs for the rest of her life? Or would she have died while administrators sought out her insurance details? Another friends mother was given a hip replacement aged 80 - not much likelyhood of that being covered in America without a hefty bankroll to cover it now is there? Women actually travel from eastern europe to have their babies delivered here because of the high degree of healthcare - costing the taxpayer £22,000 a pop I might add. I myself am on the road to developing thyroid cancer and while living in North America, you can bet your sweet ass I'll be heading home for treatment, insured or not.

I found this reply particularly significant, not because the poster blindly assumes various health problems are NOT covered in the USA but because he brags about the fact that the UK is being ripped off to pay for the health care of foreign visitors and ex patriots who left the country for good. Notice the socialist bent to the post, how he brags about UK taxpayers being taken to the cleaners, claiming that this wealth redistribution is a good thing.

It says a lot about Steven that he considers the wholesale rape of his nation's economy to be a good thing, because Eastern European reprobates can have kids who will in turn live off the government dole. Why is an increase in the homeless and destitute population seen as a good thing by these people? Why do liberals advocate socialist health care so freely and happily? Why do they see their nation hemorrhaging money to pay for the needs of illegal immigrants as a sign that the system works?

The answer of curse is that the poster, while a UK citizen, has moved to the USA, and plans to return to the UK only for medical care. He thinks it's a good system because it means someone else is paying the bill. It won't even be his tax dollars used to pay for his own health care if he does go to the UK for treatment. He thinks it's a good thing because he isn't paying a dime for it.

Sorry, he thinks it's a good thing because he isn't paying a farthing for it.

He isn't even paying taxes into the system he intends to exploit. I can't think of a better illustration of what's wrong with a single payer, government subsidized health care system. This is what Obama wants to bring to the USA. Do YOU want America to become the planet's free clinic, offering subpar care to the entire planet?

The horror, the horror, THE HORROR!

Also, I feel obligated to mention the farthing ceased to be legal tender on December 31, 1960.

Your knowledge of British currency seems to be as up-to-date as your knowledge of science.

Let's examine your assumptions and arrogance.

I found this reply particularly significant, not because the poster blindly assumes various health problems are NOT covered in the USA but because he brags about the fact that the UK is being ripped off to pay for the health care of foreign visitors and ex patriots who left the country for good.

I don't recall he mentioned anything about ex patriots. You assumed this because the poster lives in the US at the moment. He also paid taxes while living in the UK so why not get back what he paid from his wages?

Ripped off by foreign visitors is a stretch. Don't we pay for people who have no health insurance? How is this different? I believe his tone referred to the UK's exceptional QUALITY of care over substandred US care. Moreover, most countries bill the patient's country of origin to recoup the cost anyway. Do your homework, Mr. Cornswalled.

Notice the socialist bent to the post, how he brags about UK taxpayers being taken to the cleaners, claiming that this wealth redistribution is a good thing.

When it comes to helping the needy, elderly and downtrodden with health care, then yes, they are a virtue. Reminds me of a story about a man named Jesus with the same principles. It's odd you forget this.

And yes it is better. Brits live longer. Taxpayers in the UK don't mind paying their taxes to have this benefit. I don't understand why it's an issue here.

It says a lot about Steven that he considers the wholesale rape of his nation's economy to be a good thing, because Eastern European reprobates can have kids who will in turn live off the government dole.

People in eastern countries living off the dole can afford to fly to Britain for healthcare? Your logic astounds me. Not all Eastern European countries live in poverty. (Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, etc. all enjoy a higher standard of living than people living in Iindianna. And some may be poor, but they're better off than people living in the great US cities of Detroit, Baltimore, Los Angeles, etc.

Why is an increase in the homeless and destitute population seen as a good thing by these people?

I can see how your failed logic would bring you to this conclusion. However, you do realize that the UK is an island - you get on it by air or boat. I think it's great that the poor and destitute of the third world easter european countries can afford to fly to the UK.

Why do liberals advocate socialist health care so freely and happily? Why do they see their nation hemorrhaging money to pay for the needs of illegal immigrants as a sign that the system works?

Because they have COMPASSION for their people. They are also a different country, far removed from our violent cities, so why do you care?

Again I believe he paid taxes before moving to the US...

Sorry, he thinks it's a good thing because he isn't paying a farthing for it.

Your attempt at understanding culture beyond Indianna is amazing.

He isn't even paying taxes into the system but once did he intends to exploit. I can't think of a better illustration of what's wrong with a single payer, government subsidized health care system. This is what Obama wants to bring to the USA. Praise Jesus! Do YOU want America to become the planet's free clinic, offering subpar care to the entire planet?

We already do and when someone needs help and can't pay, we do it anyway.

Mr. Cornswalled, you need to get back into your bible and read up on Jesus. I can't imagine him mocking his children the way you do. I can't imagine him telling his children he would not heal them because they didn't have the right insurance. You are a sad representation of your faith.

Well let me answer you Sandy - sorry - hope you don't mind me calling you Sandy, we do that with everyone named Alexander where I'm from, same as how we call everyone named Hugh "Shuggie".

Firstly I live in Mexico - yes that's in North America, I also spend time in Orlando. And we do have a more than adequate heathcare system here. Why, my newly born nephew is currently receiving the greatest of care having been born with a deviated Tibia BUT had his grandfather not bequeathed him with medical insurance, it would be a different matter. Back home the issue would have been dealt with N.Q.A.

I don't actually recall ever seeing a farthing, saw a PENNY farthing in the museum once, doubt I could buy it never mind spend it…

I do pay tax in the UK (A considerable amount of it too I might add) as I have businesses in both Quéretaro and Scotland.

I should point out that I have never had to make personal use of the UK's National Health Service. Despite the cancer which is likely to come knocking on my door any time now (it's a genetic thing - though of course I'm sure you'd attribute it to some great sin that has lingered in my family since records began) I've had a life of perfect heath. And all that time I've been paying tax towards something I've never used. The TORMENT!

While I'm Scottish and as proud of that fact as much as the geographical location of my mother at the time I slopped out her womb allows, I am also European. Yes, Europeans don't just speak with funny accents or non-anglicised names. That's why I have no problem with the fact that women travel here, take on crappy jobs for six months, have a kid and head off back home. Heck, a particular client of mine had a pregnant woman from Poland cleaning her toilets for two years cause she decided to stay and have a second child here. I am also human/terran/earthling, whatever etymology tickles your fancy. We're all part of the same family, and family cares for family. You, someone who believes we're all part of a 6,000 year old incestuously derived lineage should appreciate that.

See this is where you and I differ, you confine yourself to your world and belief structure and see everything else as wrong and lamentable. Me, I see everyone on this blue/green earth as just part of my extended family and I will do anything that's in my power in order to help them no matter their circumstance, and I sure as heck don't need the promise of eternal bliss in the afterlife as motivation. That does, by the way, include you.

Oh and to finish, here's a comment from this story that I found particularly relevant. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1127718/Teenager-reaches-finals-modelling-competition-gains-inches-height-doctors-correct-curved-spine.html

[start] I have a girlfriend here that had a worse curve in her spine. She had an operation to strighten it out with metal rods. This is hen she was 10 or 11. The surgery toke 5 hours. She is noe 28 and she needs a new surgery. She can not afford to have it. The medal rods are bending. In the 6 years I have know her she has lose two inche in height and is always in pain

So what's horrific here Sandy? That taxpayers in the UK support non-essential medical procedures for 'foreigners' or that a young American woman is going to spend her life in crippling agony because she's not in possession of a lawyers salary?
